Important Tips for Amarnath Yatra
Sri Amarnath Yatra The Amarnath Yatra is organized by J&K Government, which starts from Pahalgam in the month of Shravan. The route from Baltal is also kept open in the recent years for the pilgrims to reach the Holy Cave.

Dress: woollen clothes are suggested for the pilgrims for the yatra, which includes sweaters woollen trousers, caps, blankets etc. Pilgrims are also suggested to carry wind sheeters, umbrella, torch etc. with them. It is advisable to ladies not to wear sarees, and avoid high heel sandals during the trek.

Medical Camps: Medical camps are established enroute by qualified doctors and nurses to cater the needs of pilgrims during the yatra, where the treatment is conducted free of cost.

Accommodation: For the convenience of the pilgrims, tented accommodation is provided with the allied facilities, at a fixed rate.

Registration: the pilgrims are advised to register for the yatra about a month before the date fixed for the commencement of yatra.

Insurance: Pilgrims are suggested to get themselves insured before commencing the Yatra, due to its hazardous nature. Various provisions are made for the pilgrims to have a convenient yatra. This includes:
  1. Essential ration at fair rates from Government established depots at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Pachtami.
  2. Small restaurants for refreshments and tea shops are set up on the wayside
Arrangement for firewood or gas is done at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtami.
