Yamunotri Yatra is the first pilgrimage that one takes during the Chardham Yatra as the Yatra takes place from west to east. Yamunotri is famous for its thermal springs and glaciers. Yamunotri pilgrimage in India is a must visit in every Hindu’s list of pilgrimage destinations. According to a legend it is said that these secluded serene Garhwal Hills were once the abode of an ancient sage Asit Muni.  The source of river Yamuna, Champasaar Glacier lies 1 km ahead of the shrine and is not generally visited by the pilgrims as it is not easily accessible.

Surya Kund is one of the most important thermal springs and the hottest one with a temperature of 190°F. Pilgrims cook rice and potatoes here to offer to Goddess Yamuna. Hanuman Chutti another major attraction marks the merger of Hanuman Ganga and Yamuna rivers and is the starting point for the beautiful Dodi Tal Trek.
